He then joined the University of Washington faculty and is now professor of Bioengineering. He is also Founding Editor-in-Chief of the journal, WATER, convener of the Annual Conference on the Physics, Chemistry and Biology of Water, and Executive Director of the Institute for Venture Science. His interests have ranged broadly, from biological motion and cell biology to the interaction of biological surfaces with aqueous solutions. His 1990 book, Muscles and Molecules: Uncovering the Principles of Biological Motion, won an \u201cExcellence Award\u201d from the Society for Technical Communication. His 2001 book, Cells, Gels and the Engines of Life, and his newest book, The Fourth Phase of Water: Beyond Solid, Liquid, and Vapor won that Society\u2019s \u201cDistinguished Award,\u201d their highest distinction. The latter book went on to receive the World Summit Excellence Award. Pollack received an honorary doctorate in 2002 from Ural State University in Ekaterinburg, Russia, and was more recently named an Honorary Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and foreign member and Academician of the Srpska Academy. He received the Biomedical Engineering Society\u2019s Distinguished Lecturer Award in 2002. In 2008, his colleagues chose him as the recipient of his university\u2019s highest annual distinction: the UW Faculty Lecturer Award. Pollack is a Founding Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering and a Fellow of both the American Heart Association and the Biomedical Engineering Society. He received an NIH Director\u2019s Transformative R01 Award. He was the 2012 recipient of the Prigogine Medal for thermodynamics of dissipative systems, and in 2014 he received the Scientific Excellence Award from the World Academy of Neural Therapy, as well as the Society for Scientific Exploration\u2019s Dinsdale Prize. In 2015, he won the Brandlaureate Award, previously bestowed on notables such as Nelson Mandela, Hillary Clinton and Steve Jobs. his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University (IL, USA) and his Ph.D. in physical chemistry from University of California, Berkeley in 2010. His thesis work focused on theoretical and experimental investigations of liquids using X-ray spectroscopic techniques. He subsequently worked for an insurance company, before returning to science to develop ultrafast X-ray methods for synchrotrons at Argonne National Laboratory. He then became a project scientist at SLAC national lab where he built X-ray spectrometers and worked on ultrafast phenomena. His research is primarily concerned with X-ray spectroscopy and scattering. Primarily, he studies soft matter by spectroscopic means. Today,  Christian Huck is responsible for a broad field of analytical technologies including beside near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) also separation and enrichment methods, mass spectrometry (MS) and others. Focusing towards NIRS in his research towards NIRS he has published more than 300 papers and received an h-index of 44 (> 7000 citations). Christian Huck is also the Tomas Hirschfeld Award 2018 winner and is well-known as the editor of NIR News. He got The Ministry of Education Award for Young Teachers in 2002, Natural Science Foundation Outstanding Youth Fund in 2003, the special allowances of the state council in 2012, and the Lu Wanzhen Award of CCNIRS (China Council of Near Infrared Spectroscopy) in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The main research area of Prof. Shao is chemometrics and its application in analytical chemistry. Since the 90s of the last century, he has engaged in the studies of near infrared spectroscopy. He developed a series of chemometric methods for NIR spectral analysis, including the methods for spectral pre-processing, outlier detection, variable selection, and the methods for quantitative and discrimination analysis. Great efforts were made for selection of the informative variables from the NIR spectra. Aiming at the problem of low sensitivity of NIR spectroscopy, works for the micro-analysis were conducted based on the combination of chemometric and experimental strategies. In recent years, temperature dependent NIR spectroscopy was proposed and new applications were explored. He obtained his B.Sc. (1985), M.Sc. (1987), and D.Sc. (1990) degrees from Kyoto University. He became a research associate in the Institute for Solid State Physics, The University of Tokyo after graduation in 1990.  He joined an ERATO \u2018HIrao-Active-Glass-Project\u2019 lead by Prof. Hirao in 1995 and returned to the Department of Physics in Kyoto University as an Associate Professor in 1997.  He was promoted to Full Professor in 2004.  Since 2008, he has also been working at iCeMS in Kyoto University as a principal investigator. In 2017. she received Japanese Society for Promotion of Science post-doctoral research fellowship at Kobe University, Biomeasurement Technology Laboratory of Graduate School of Agriculture where, under guidance of Prof. Dr Roumiana Tsenkova she is researching applications of aquaphotomics for non-invasive mastitis diagnosis in dairy cows. She currently holds a position of an Assistant Professor at the Biomedical Engineering Department, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade in Serbia.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2011 she was introduced to the field of aquaphotomics, which considerably shaped all her subsequent research. Her research area is very wide and highly multidisciplinary, encompassing characterization of nanomaterials\/materials\/biomaterials and their interaction with water, biomedical diagnostics, monitoring and therapy. In all these research projects aquaphotomics plays key role. Her research efforts are directed toward better understanding of the role water has in biocompatibility and function of materials on macro as well as on nano scale. In diagnostics, the quest for water biomarker in body fluids could lead to minimally invasive and non-invasive detection based on the imprint of cumulative changes of all biomolecules with the role in disease pathogenesis. Her ultimate goal is to translate the research results of aquaphotomics to biomedical and other engineering applications.<\/p>\n<p>Jelena Mun\u0107an is the author or co-author of more than 60 Exposures (Decree 1998\/381) and of the Italian Law 2001\/36 \u201cFramework of restrictions about electromagnetic people exposures\u201d. He provided the scientific rationale for these acts as editor (together with prof. Giovanni Zapponi) of the position paper of the Italian Ministry of Health: \u201cJoint ISPESL-ISS Document about exposures of People and Workers to Electric, Magnetic and Electromagnetic Fields between 0Hz and 300 GHz\u201d. He was the author of the \u201cAddendum of ISPESL\u201d to such Document. In the Addendum, exposure limits for Italian people were provided and they were adopted in the Italian Law (both documents were published in Fogli di Informazione ISPESL, 1997, IV Suppl.). Both documents were formally approved by the Italian Parliament, unanimously by the Chamber of Representatives with Mozione 1-00360\/1999 and by the Senatus in the Commission for Environment. He was appointed (with Dr. Crescimanno) from the Italian Health Ministry to write, the position document of Italy introduced at the EU Council of Ministries, on October 1998, for emending the EU Commission Recommendation Proposal COM1998\/268, draft of the Recommendation 1999\/519\/CE. The Italian position document was written according to the May 5, 1994 and March 10, 1999 EU Parliament Resolutions. My BSc, MSc and PhD studies were completed at University of Belgrade, Serbia, from 1993 to 2011. My PhD work started with the applications of nanotechnology to medicine by using Magnetic Force Microscopy in scanning human skin histopathology samples. Simultaneously, I became involved with BioImaging applications and signal processing as a part of R&amp;D project aimed at developing a new method called Opto-Magnetic Spectroscopy (OMS) for in vivo screening of skin-cancers and early diagnosis of melanoma. I was involved in developing a customized hardware &amp; software solutions for automated digital acquisition and processing of CCD camera images. As a final result, I have co-authored four papers in the field of OMS, as a hardware &amp; software engineer.<\/p>\n<p>My Post-doc work started at Kobe University where I spent 3 months (during year 2011.) in the laboratory of Prof. Roumiana Tsenkova, to complete the training in a new approach to studying the structure of water called AquaPhotomics and Multivariate analysis of NIR spectra of water and water based solutions.<\/p>\n<p>My recent and current work is based at Keio University, where I transitioned in second half of year 2011, after completion of training at Kobe University, and is focused around AquaPhotomics. I amd currently affiliated with Dept. of Pharmacology at Keio University, Tokyo. His early works and adepts in the agricultural, food sciences and pharmaceutical fields, was noticed by the manufacturer of electronic tongue instruments, and he was invited for collaborations. He spent three years as a post-doctorate research fellow in Professor Tsenkova\u2019s group at Kobe University, Japan. Since his post-doc period, he has been working with the near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) using the novel aquaphotomics data evaluation approach. He has also, been investigating the application of aquaphotomics for various systems including biological organisms, different types of water samples, and developing measurement and data evaluation techniques for rapid and non-invasive application of NIRS and aquaphotomics. He has won several research fellowships since he returned to his home institution in 2016. He moved to the Institute for Solid State Physics, the University of Tokyo in 2011 as an associate professor, and promoted to professor in 2018, which is his present position as well. His research interests are soft X-ray emission spectroscopy, core-induced dynamics and its applications, electro catalysis in fuel cells, electronic structure of water and aqueous solutions, interfaces and biomaterials. He constructed in total seven soft X-ray emission spectrometers in Japan, always following the No.1 energy resolution and stability in the world. Since 1987 she is researcher at the ENEA research centre in Frascati, near Rome. Her experience ranges from solid state to nuclear physics. She is author of more than 80 research items (papers, chapters, conference papers and patents). She serves as reviewer in many international journals and has been tutor of several undergraduate and graduate thesis and fellowship.<\/p>\n<p>Her initial interests were in solid state physics and, in particular in low temperature effects on materials and superconductivity.<br \/>\nIn 1999-2002 she coordinated the ENEA Project \u201cNew Hydrogen Energy\u201d on the nuclear properties of deuterium stored in solid lattices. The project was supervised by the Nobel laureate Carlo Rubbia, former President of ENEA.<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration with two important Italian theoretical physicists, Giuliano Preparata and Emilio Del Giudice, started during the \u201cNew Hydrogen Energy\u201d project, moves her towards the concept of quantum electrodynamics (QED) coherence in condensed matter. Such a theory allows an original approach to the supra-molecular structure of liquid water and its peculiar role in biology. Since then she worked on several experimental layout (FTIR, X-ray fluorescence, THz spectroscopy) with the aim to prove the two-fluids nature of liquid water. She is also interested in the effect of ions in the structural order of water. QED also provides an insight in physical mechanism of interaction between extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields and living systems. She also works as an independent researcher. Her drive is to bring science about water to the people.<\/p>\n<p>She studied medical technical computer science and did a PhD in medical image registration, after which she worked for Philips Healthcare as a clinical scientist for four years. She became interested in a more holistic approach, and worked on bridging Chinese and Western medicine concepts at the Sino-Dutch Centre for Personalized and Preventive Medicine at Leiden University. He is currently associate professor of Chemometrics at Sapienza University of Rome. In 2006, he was awarded the Young Researcher Prize from Italian Chemical Society and in 2012 he won the Chemometrics and Intelligent Laboratory Systems Award \u201cfor his achievements in chemometrics\u201d. He has been visiting researcher in various Universities (Copenhagen, Stellenbosch, Silesia, Lille). His research activity is focused on all aspects of chemometrics, ranging from the application of existing methods to real world problems in different fields to the design and development of novel algorithms. He is author of more than 110 papers in international journals, and recently he edited and coauthored the book Chemometrics in food chemistry (Elsevier). He is member of the Editorial boards of Chemolab, Analytica Chimica Acta, J. of Chemometrics, J. of NIR Spectroscopy, J. of Spectral Imaging and he serves as Associate Editor for Chemometrics in Wiley\u2019s Encyclopedia of Analytical Chemistry. Her research activity is mainly focused on the application of innovative analytical strategies based on near-infrared spectroscopy and hyperspectral imaging. An important topic of her research is the extraction of significant information embodied within complex data arrays by means of advanced chemometric techniques. With her background in food science and technology, Cristina mainly applies this approach to food samples, with the aim of understanding the complex biochemical activities that occur during food processing\/degradation. For this reason, one of his paramount concerns is the critics of epistemological aspects in life sciences, totally unable to contemplate such kind of observable. R. Gaupp-Berghausen put his main focus during his studies in Europe and also during further studies in Central America on water. <\/p>\n<p>In May 2018 Rasmus Gaupp-Berghausen got elected as Co-President of the International Light Association (ILA). https:\/\/www.international-light-association.org The ILA is a uniquely collaborative group of light and colour therapy practitioners, health professionals, scientists, educators, product manufacturers, artists, architects, interior designers and philosophers who are passionate about learning and applying the latest theories, techniques and technologies regarding how light and colour can promote health, enhance performance and learning and raise consciousness.<\/p>\n<p>During the last years Rasmus Gaupp-Berghausen has been invited in over 40 countries presenting his work in lectures and workshops. He speaks besides German, English, Danish and Spanish fluently.
